How to run this session
Stages and timing
- Two sides and a frame
- Build the three-dimensional fuselage
- Fill and close the fuselage
- Your own wing and tail colors
- Wings level, tail vertical
- Build the rigid stand
- Mount the airplane on the stand
- Check and display
What gets built
Learn to position parts symmetrically in three dimensions.
What it practises
- Positioning parts symmetrically in three dimensions
- Joining flat parts and skin into a solid form
- Supporting parts while welds cool
Success criteria
- The airplane has two spatially connected fuselage sides, solid surfaces, horizontal wings, and a vertical stabilizer.
- Corresponding wingtips are at the same height and extend by similar amounts.
- The cool model stands on its base by itself for 10 seconds; the joints remain still.
