An octagonal PLA drum on two A supports, with a hand crank, a rigid hinged hatch and an L-slot bolt. Make five tokens with different symbols and use the set in your own game.

How to run this session

Stages and timing
  1. Make the base
  2. Build and mount both A supports
  3. Make both drum ends
  4. Join the ends with eight longitudinal ribs
  5. Add seven flat panels
  6. Attach both trunnions
  7. Complete the cage with the opening panel
  8. Seat the drum and close the bearings
  9. Add the stops and crank
  10. Make the hatch and hinge
  11. Fit the bolt and L-slot guide
  12. Turn the bolt handle
  13. Withdraw the bolt
  14. Open the hatch
  15. Close the hatch
  16. Slide the bolt into the receiver
  17. Lock the handle
  18. Check a full turn of the empty drum
  19. Make five tokens
  20. Try drawing a token

What gets built

Build a mechanical element for your own game.

Success criteria
  • The drum makes a full manual turn with the hatch closed and the bolt locked.
  • Five tokens move inside and do not fall through the grids or gaps.
  • After stopping, unlocking and opening the hatch, a single token can be removed.
