How to run this session

Stages and timing

  1. Draw the body and mirrored outlines
  2. Repeat short ribs on both sides
  3. Fill three pairs of sections

What gets built

Create a clear, original ornament through symmetry and rhythm.

What it practises

  • Comparing a mirrored arrangement and the rhythm of an ornament.

Success criteria

  • Two mirrored sides and three pairs of filled sections create a clear ornament.
  • The model is one flat butterfly: the wings connect to the body, and the short antennae connect to the head.
  • Once cool, its outer dimensions are approximately 100 × 80 mm and it is one layer approximately 1.2 mm thick.
  • The butterfly can be recognized without a label. Check visually; remake a cracked or weakened model.
