How to run this session

Stages and timing

  1. Two identical frames
  2. Deck outline and ribs
  3. Fill the entire deck
  4. Test-fit the three cool parts
  5. Four supported tacks
  6. Reinforce the four joints
  7. River and paper character
  8. Your crossing

What gets built

Join three parts into a useful three-dimensional object for play.

What it practises

  • Tracing a 1:1 template and filling it with connected strands.
  • Joining three supported parts in three dimensions.

Success criteria

  • Two frames and a deck form a three-dimensional bridge; the four joints are connected.
  • The cool bridge stands unsupported over the paper river, and one lightweight paper figure can remain on the deck. This is for play, not a load-bearing test.
